WatchThis is the nerdiest and most expensive Christmas gift I’ve ever received. It’s a sterling engine. It runs off of heat (your hand is enough). It will run for eternity just sitting on a hear source. A thermodynamics professor I had in college had one and I thought it was cool, but the price of one is fairly obscene. This item was not on my wishlist this year, but I still think it’s pretty awesome.

American Ninja Warrior
I’ve been watching ANW on G4 and the host refers to the contestants appropriately as “ninjas”. Every time he says it I think about SNL, DJ Super Soak and Lil Blaster with the ICP parody.
Additionally the “salmon ladder” is the most ridiculous obstacle ever. And by ridiculous I mean awesome.

While walking across the pedestrian bridges over Washington Ave in front of Coffman Union I looked to the Minneapolis skyline. Of course the Metrodome roof was noticeably absent. I’m not sure how I feel about it. It’s been there for as long as I’ve been in Minnesota, but it was an eyesore. I’m not sure what wins out, appearance or nostalgia.

Power Out
My power went on in the early hours of Thursday morning (so I assume). I woke up at 5 am and it was off. I went back to sleep and woke up at my regularly scheduled 7:30 am and it was still off. We teamed up with Jack Black and Jason Segal to make this Holiday music video, which came out today. It’s called “Peace on Earth / Little Drummer Boy,” a tribute to the 1977 Bowie/Crosby duet.
The song is available on iTunes, with all proceeds going to Blue Star Families, a non-profit created for and by military families.
