finetune →
Probably a year ago a friend told me about finetune which is a streaming music website. I wrote it off as I was fairly happy with my launchcast station. The other day though I found that there were a lot of very specific songs that I wanted to hear that weren’t coming up on my launchcast station. Finetune changes all of that. You can select the certain songs you want to hear (only 3 from...
Norway's prime minister opens doomsday seed vault... →
This is one of the coolest things I’ve heard in a long time. Almost cooler than the Shadow Government that the United States has hiding in the mountains of Appalachia. Jk.
A new week
My work week appears to be fairly uneventful. Although the music portion of my week should be pretty good. Two concerts, one Wednesday and one Thursday. The Foo Fighters and the Hives. I’m pretty excited for both. Two of my favorites. Thinking back I think I’ve only missed one Foo show since I’ve been in Minnesota. And I’ve never seen the Hives, which I’ve...
Bad weather may delay satellite shootdown attempt... →
So at one point in time a month or so ago I thought I remembered hearing about the military shooting down one of their own satellites because they were afraid it would survive the fall from space with critical components intact. If it were to fall into Russia or China that would be bad, because then they would have bits and pieces of our top secret technology. Now all we hear about is that they...
Grinds my Gears
People riding their bikes in the middle of winter. There should be a law against riding bikes between November and February or when it’s below freezing outside. Seeing these geniuses riding around around zero degrees F pains me physically. With the addition of the wind it drops the temp even more, not to mention it’s harder to pedal through snow. What do people who ride their bike...
BYOB part deux: Why I don't buy bottled water...
dihard: Mainly because I don’t like being taken advantage of. The bottled water industry is a $46 billion dollar industry. Americans bought over 31.2B liters of water in 2006. It’s a colossal waste of money for what comes out of the tap. It’s not always natural, nor is it spring; most of what you’re buying (25%, or so I’ve read) is just from the tap, and Amerians...

Simple Pleasures →
I created a website for my high school class. Abingdon High School 1999 in Abingdon, VA. I’m super proud of it. I’m always trying to think of new things to add to it, with out being super annoying. My latest creation is a Google Map with markers to indicate where our classmates live. It took me a while for figure it out, but now that I have, I’m pretty pumped.
Cake Walk
We had a cake walk at work today during lunch. It was awesome. Props to Glen for the idea. I baked a Red Velvet Cake (not from scratch) and brought it in. I, however, did not win a cake. Even though we had like 9 or 10.
Valentine's Day
I overheard a couple of my coworkers talking about Valentines Day and how it’s a stupid holiday created by Greeting Card companies. I totally agree that it’s not a real holiday but at the end of the day, I think everyone wishes they had a Valentine. It’s human nature to want companionship. As much as you can deny it if you had the choice you’d choose companionship versus...
Jumper
So they’re promoting this new movie Jumper everywhere. TV spots, football games, overlays on Fox network, everywhere. I think it looks shitty. Mainly because Hayden Christensen is not a good actor. Has any movie that received this much hype turned out to be a good movie? Thinking back the best movies are the ones that sneak up on you. Like Juno, Napoleon Dynamite, etc. Granted there...
working today
I’m at work giving kids money. Or should I say not giving kids money. Whatever. I’m also watching the Gophers on ESPN. They’re up on the Hawkeyes by 9 right now. Funny how Gopher sports ebb and flow. Typically we’re a hockey state. Football and Basketball have only been medicore at best for a while. Turns out that now hockey is taking a back seat to football...
hep hep
So I’ve discovered over the last few weeks that when ever I exert myself, such as bending over to pick up something off the floor I say the words, “hep hep”. Just two of them. I know exactly where that comes from. In college (and really currently) I was consumed by South Park. One of my favorite episodes is “Prehistoric Ice Man”. The late crocodile hunter makes a...
ABC has a great new website where you enter in... →
Pretty hillarious. I’m Abacus. What a nerd.
Working
I’m back at work today. My head’s floating around a bit, probably from the cold medicine I took, but other than that I feel ok. Long day of catching up ahead.
Super Tuesday
I’m watching the numbers come in tonight from Super Tuesday. I didn’t caucus tonight in Minnesota. Mainly because as much as I want to believe in change with Obama my personal preference is still Hillary. As I’ve said before I think that both are very qualified candidates, but Obama seems to be uniquely qualified to reach across the aisle. An update on my health. I’ve...

At home
I’m at home today. I was feeling pretty awful yesterday. Fever, cough, chills, headache, bodyaches, the whole 9 yards. I made it through the night and woke up this morning with everything but the fever. I’ve just been bumming around the condo trying to relax and get over this sickness. I took tomorrow off as well so I’m not sure what I’ll get into.

An epiphany
I just had somewhat of an epiphany. People have been telling me about the Democrats and why Hillary over Barack or vice versa. Up to this point, for some unexplained reason I was behind HillDog, although more than anything I am a Democrat. Thinking about it further tonight I realize that Barack is the best democrat for the job. Why? Because people don’t hate him just to hate him. For...
Last Night...
was pretty fun. Started off with a happy hour at Old Chicago. Fun times catching up with some Dragons. Moved on to Seven Corners for some more drinks at the Corner Bar. If you didn’t know every Thursday and Friday they have a stand up comedy show in the basement. I’ve done it once and my friend Joe’s done it a few times. Last night was hillarious. This local guy named...
